Professional Manufacturing and Business Growth Advisor

The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NH MEP) is seeking to fill a full-time field staff position.

NH MEP is a Network Affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the U.S. Department of Commerce.

POSITION: The Professional Manufacturing and Business Growth Advisor is a NH MEP, Full-Time,Exempt and Non-Bargaining Unit (NBU) position.

LOCATION: In New HampshireTo Be Determined.. Could require extensive in-state travel.

COMPENSATION: Competitive Salary and benefits package.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an NH MEP Manufacturing & Business Growth Advisor field staff, you will interact directly withcompanies to assess needs, deliver training, and provide hands-on coaching in technical and managementservices.

You will analyze and deliver services in process improvement and company growth at the operational,process and system levels with measurable results.

Along with being a trusted resource in the New Hampshore manufacturing ecosystem, you will support and be supported by regional partners and the MEP National Network™.

  • Coach individuals and small groups on effective and sustaining application and implementation of Lean, Continuous Improvement and Innovation methods. These include, but are not limited to,Value Stream Mapping, Set-up Reduction, 5S, Plant and Cell Layout, Pull systems and Supermarket design, and TPM.
  • Lead and co-present private, public, remote and on-site training, workshops and other
  • Define, manage and deliver consulting projects on time and within budget, while meeting and/orexceeding customer
  • Conduct outreach to NH manufacturers to learn about their needs and promote awareness of NH MEP, resulting in the development of client-specific
  • Manage and support a portfolio of client accounts and coordinate third party service provider
  • Utilize NH MEP CIS for account management including project activities, goals and
  • Participate in NH MEP Strategy Deployment and Strategic Initiatives including to develop andimprove systems and standard work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Management or other appropriate discipline, plus a minimum of ten (10) years of manufacturing experience or a combination of education and experience from whichcomparable knowledge and skills are acquired. An advanced degree or             a second degree that provides cross-functional skills is desirable.

  • Proven experience implementing Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and innovativeideas processes, with seasoned business
  • Demonstrated coaching skills and a passion for developing people and helping others
  • Accountability to commitments, measurable results and superior customer service. Trust and effective long term relationship building.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to comfortably and clearly communicate with client company executives, leaders andemployees at all levels.
  • Active listening and continuous learning; capable and adaptable in working with diversemanufacturing industries.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills, with an ability to managemultiple projects.
  • Experience in assessing an organization’s needs, with an emphasis on measurable Minimum of two (2) years of consulting experience desirable.
  • Successful direct sales and prospecting experience.
  • Ability to work from a home office, work independently, and also work as part of a

team that is mission driven and passionate about providing high value-added and high-impactoutcomes for a client base in diversified markets.

NH MEP Director of Operations

New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NH MEP). is a Network Affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the U.S. Department of Commerce.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Director of Operations
REPORTS TO: NH MEP President/CEO

The Director of Operations leads NH MEP programs that are supported by funding from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program to strengthen small and medium-sized manufacturers within New Hampshire. The NH MEP Director of Operations collaborates with community leaders in economic development roles and with other organizations to engage and leverage assets in support of economic development priorities. The MEP Director of Operations leads and manages the delivery of appropriate continuous improvement and other initiatives that supports clients’ commercial and process improvement goals. The NH MEP Director of Operations, working together with the staff, is responsible for generating sufficient project and grant revenue to ensure financial sustainability and for impacts performance to meet the requirements of stakeholders in accordance to scope of specific grants and partnership agreements, specifically NIST MEP.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with NIST MEP as well as federal and state peer organizations.
  • Manage all NH MEP business process and optimization for input into CIS database.
  • Identify and manage improvement of center operations including IT systems and reporting.
  • Identify and manage metrics required for federal, state and center operations.
  • Manage center events scheduling and logistics.
  • Support management of project pipeline which includes marketing, outreach, workshops and events for a cohesive outreach effort.
  • Manage all marketing activities associated with the Center.
  • Work directly with the president/CEO on spending and revenue to align with NIST/MEP budget.
  • Identifies the center’s responsibilities as specified in grant documents and partnership agreements, assigns responsibilities within the center accordingly and follows up, directly and through intermediate supervisors, to ensure the execution of all scope of work on grants and commitments.
  • Assist NH MEP’s President/CEO in the development of budget for NH MEP’s Center activities and manages the day-to-day operations of the Center to ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual sales, revenue and expense objectives are met. Implements corrective strategies and reassigns responsibilities and budget priorities to account for revenue shortfalls.
  • Determines the staffing and operating requirements. Oversees the planning and deployment of resources within the Center to ensure that objectives are met, including recruiting, training, development, setting objectives, measuring and evaluating performance, and providing feedback.
  • Under the guidance of the President/CEO, makes compensation & employment decisions.
  • Leads & coaches field staff on the role of “Trusted Advisor” to provide the client’s Senior Management with suggested strategic direction to ensure appropriate, and specific to the business, initiatives are delivered to enhance the continuous improvement and innovation of the business processes.
  • Represent the MEP Center at State and National events/activities as required.
  • With NH MEP President/CEO, develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with community stake holders through active engagement and community outreach to foster a positive referral system and financial support for programs.
  • Approves proposals/contracts for delivering services to client companies.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the President/CEO

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Education or Quality or other related field preferred. MBA desirable. Experience may be substituted for field of study.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with some supervisory experience. (Leadership/Management role in manufacturing environment highly desirable.)
  • A minimum of 2 years or more of experience managing a non-profit training and consulting organization in the manufacturing sector a plus.
  • Strong and effective strategic management skills are required, including long range planning, organizing, facilitating, communicating, influencing, gathering and using information, and motivating a team to achieve results
  • Prior experience managing others including recruiting, developing, setting objectives, measuring performance, and providing feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence external and internal decision-makers and to provide direction and feedback to others.
  • Skilled in the use of computer for communication, data management and reporting including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and have a flexible schedule.
  • Experienced with manufacturing industry equipment and regulations preferred but not required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience. Problem solving experience highly desirable.
  • Financial management highly desirable.
  • Previous knowledge/experience of Economic Development is highly desirable.
  • Previous Consulting experience highly desirable.

Continuous Improvement Project Manager

About the Job

We are seeking an experienced professional who has broad knowledge of manufacturing and is capable of assessing and evaluating all operations within a manufacturing environment. A proven track record of providing, implementing and measuring business solutions for our clients is a must. Additional experience in the identification, delivery and/or management of continual improvement solutions, energy/environmental or innovation transformations is a plus.

Our Lean Manufacturing Trainer will assist manufacturers in the state to improve their manufacturing operations, productivity, and flexibility by implementing cutting-edge management strategies and comprehensive program implementation. He/She will also help manufacturer’s competitive position by incorporating the principles of lean manufacturing into their daily operations. In addition the works with various service delivery partners and agencies to help organizations utilize lean manufacturing concepts in: enterprise diagnostics, lean concepts training, value stream mapping, rapid improvement projects (Kaizen) throughout the entire organization.

Responsibilities:

This highly motivated individual will join our team to conduct outreach and business development, assess company needs and provide technical and management assistance to clients via the implementation of manufacturing and business improvements that yield positive, bottom line economic impacts.

Experience:

–       Knowledge and experience in delivering training and conducting Process Improvement activity

–       Implementation skills in Lean/cell manufacturing, Kaizen, Six-Sigma and Quality Systems

–       Experience in Manufacturing management, enterprise planning systems and technical consulting

–       Exceptional professional skills in business development, program(s) delivery and implementation

–       Outstanding Project Management Skills
