Supply Chain Advisor to Small and Medium-Sized Manufacturers

    Position Overview:

    New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NH MEP) is a member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology MEP National Network.

    The Supply Chain Advisor is responsible for leading, developing and executing product sourcing strategies for current and new products. This position is responsible for leading supply chain/procurement activities to bring products to market at the highest quality and lowest total cost possible. He/she will focus on helping New Hampshire manufacturers solve their supply chain challenges and build a resilient supply chain management system in place.

    The Supply Chain Advisor will advise, provide training and consulting to manufacturers in all aspects of Supply Chain in a variety of environments including:

    • Build to Order
    • Build to Forecast
    • Assemble to Order

    From planning to procurement to Inventory Control and cycle counting.

    The Supply Chain Advisor will help New Hampshire’s manufacturers improve the performance of their supply chain and manage the impact of disruptions. The following are the services the Supply Chain Advisor will undertake.

    • Supply Chain Mapping and Risk Assessment

    The Supply Chain Advisor will help map and assess the clients’ supply chain to identify sources of risk and develop risk management plans, such as identifying secondary or alternative suppliers as well as increasing safety stock.

    • Supplier Scouting

    The Supply Chain Advisor will help manufacturers find new sources of supplies, which is not easy for many resource-challenged manufacturers that are occupied with their own operation and deal in relatively narrow networks associated with their specialties. The Supply Chain Advisor will reach out to National MEP Network of manufacturers – locally and nationally, state and regional economic development organizations, and trade groups to raise the manufacturer’s visibility.

    The National Supplier Scouting service can assist in identifying domestic suppliers with the capabilities our clients need, in some cases allowing them to reshore production, resulting in a shorter supply chain and reduced uncertainty.

    • Process Improvement and Supplier Development

    The Supply Chain Advisor will work with companies and their supply chains to:

    Reduce manufacturing critical path lead time, often employing methodologies such as systematically improving bottlenecks and lean inventory management systems

    Drive quality systems throughout the supply chain and assist with original equipment manufacturer/supplier certifications

    Share visibility and coordination on forecasting, demand and sales planning, operations planning and inventory management

    •  Procurement and Supply Chain Management Strategy

    The Supply Chain Advisor will help develop a procurement and a Supply Chain Strategy for New Hampshire manufacturers.

    Must Have:

    • USA Citizen or permitted to work in the USA
    • Full Covid 19 vaccinations
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to do outreach to manufacturers
    • Strong skills in business development
    • Five (5) plus years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Computer proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office skills with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Analytical mindset and enjoy attention to detail, be well organized and a problem-solver
    • Ability to learn quickly and become proficient in other software programs
    • Self-directed with the ability to work independently
    • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, continuous improvement mindset, and organizational skills
    • Degree in Supply Chain- ASCM Certifications CPIM or CSCP, or CLTD in Supply Chain desired
    • Experience with the use and maintenance of ERP/MRP systems
    • Experience in and knowledge of ISO requirements
    • Must have a high degree of integrity and a predisposition for results
    • Problem solving skills and the ability to take a logical approach to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Continuous Improvement Project Manager

    Overview:

    The New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership seeks a Continuous Improvement Project Manager to provide advisory   / training solutions to small and medium-sized manufacturers in the New Hampshire marketplace. The Continuous Improvement – Project Manager will train and coach on lean and continuous improvement programs, working in conjunction with plant and department leaders to identify areas of their operations where the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies will improve key performance indicators, operating results, space required, inventory levels and manufacturing costs.

    This role will work at client sites across New Hampshire and can be based anywhere in the New Hampshire and North Central Massachusetts.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Work closely with the team to develop a tailored curriculum of services for identified manufacturing
    • Areas of focus include: Operational Excellence, Workforce Strategies, Growth Solutions.
    • Identify, prioritize and execute continuous improvement training & consulting activities, drive standardization and consistency of
    • Effectively leverage tools, such as lean six sigma and change management to drive continuous improvement activities to improve operating
    • Take clients systematically from their “current state of operations” to a dramatically- improved future state – a high performance
    • Help manufacturers create both positive and sustainable impact to their bottom and top line in order to become more
    • Lead operational value stream mapping to improve performance and eliminate
    • Manages activities of company and third-party training resources at that given
    • Regularly quantifies the economic benefit of the training programs on the financial strength and growth initiatives of the

     

    What You Need:

    • BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent
    • 6+ years of manufacturing experience in a training, consulting in lean manufacturing.
    • Ability to sell the center’s services and outreach to manufacturers
    • Proven experience in automating downstream
    • Project management skills with good time management of project/client relationship management, training facilitation, training delivery and administrative
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite to prepare presentations and communications and to track delivery of services and administration of survey
    • Great organizational planning skills with the proven ability to facilitate change
